Welcome to my online professional portfolio!

This portfolio is a compilation of my coursework during my MAED program at Michigan State University, philosophies, and prior teaching experience. You will find my resume, coursework, reflections on my work, and a little bit about me.

My work in education (both as a student and teacher) has taken me many places. I began my studies at Messiah College (Grantham, PA) and graduated from Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). From there I began teaching in the private sector in Troy, Michigan and shortly thereafter began my graduate degree at Michigan State University. Before the birth of my daughter and my husband's job moved us across the country to Utah, I also had the opportunity to teach in the public school setting in a second grade classroom.

As a full-time mother now, I have enjoyed seeing how children learn from the world around them, firsthand, by watching my daughter. This learning from experience, language development, the supreme importance of early literacy, and positive literacy experiences are all valuable things my daughter has helped me to understand in a new light. Along with observing my daughter, I've also enjoyed learning what it means to be a parent and to want the very best for your child.
